FAQs
1. Where do the puppies come from?
Our pups are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. Most recently our pups have been coming from Georgia.
2. How do we apply?
Our application can be found on this site. Please feel free to complete it even if there are currently no dogs available.
3. How much do the puppies cost?
The adoption fee ranges from $300 to $450 depending on the cost that we incur to bring the puppies up North.
4. What does the adoption fee cover?
The fee covers the cost to transport the dogs from the South. Most puppies come with their first series of shots including DHPP, Flea and Tick Preventative, De-wormer, and Heart Worm Preventative. Some may have more shots and already be altered. Each puppy may be different depending on age. All fee’s collected are put towards the Rescue.
5. What shots do the puppies come with?
Most puppies have the first series of shots. Some may have other shots and already be altered depending on their age.
6. Do all puppies see a Vet prior to adoption?
All puppies are seen by a Vet in the South prior to being transported to the North, per Department of Agriculture regulations. They also come with a Health Certificate from the State of Georgia. Our adoption agreement DOES REQUIRE the pup be seen within the first week from day of adoption.
7. How do I meet the pet I’m interested in?
Fill out an application and once we’ve received it and had a chance to review it, we’ll call you to schedule a meet and greet. This DOES NOT mean that you will take possession of the puppy that day. Also, ALL members of your family MUST be present. If you want to bring a few extra people that’s ok too!
8. Will I be able to take my puppy home the day I meet him/her?
This depends on a few factors. Getting pre approved to meet your future house mate is a good start. We leave it up to the discretion of the team members in the rescue to decide this. Sometimes once you meet a puppy it’s just not going to be a good fit. How long will it take to hear back from Northern Bound once my application has been received? Usually no longer than 48 hours. We will call the number that you placed on the application. If you do not hear from us within 48 hours, your application was not approved.
9. How old do I have to be to adopt from Northern Bound Rescue?
You must be at least 18 years old with a VALID drivers license from the state in which you live in.
